Maya Brenner "State" Necklaces

I recently saw a Maya Brenner "State" necklace on a friend of mine, and I instantly fell in love with them! They're a great way to add a personalized touch to any outfit and show off your home state! They come in all 50 states, sterling silver or 14k gold, and you can even add a diamond to represent a particular city and flaunt some hometown pride! This necklace is perfect for someone like me who lives about 2,400 miles away from most of my family, and who has a deep sentimental attachment to my home state. Many celebrities have been seen wearing the Maya Brenner necklaces as well, some of  which include Katy Perry, Giulianna Rancic, Eva Longoria, and Jessica Simpson. Now don't get me wrong, the price is a bit steep to those of us that mainly rely on "costume jewelry" (hey, I love costume jewelry and wear it all the time.) Although they won't cost nearly what it would to purchase a necklace from say Tiffany's, for example, they're certainly not what I would call economical either. The sterling silver option will cost you at least $130, and the 14k gold will set you back a minimum of $395. Gorgeous necklaces, though, and in my opinion, worth every penny! Check them out for yourselves and let me know what you think!

Welcome to my blog!

Welcome to my blog Cabernet & Cupcakes! Having been inspired by many other bloggers my age, I've been thinking of starting a blog for some time now. Before I give you some background information about my blog and what will be featured, let me first tell you a little bit about myself.

My name is Elena Purdy and I'm a Monterey, CA native, but have landed in the South by way of the Air Force. My family decided to retire here in Pensacola, FL while I was in high school, and I've been here ever since. While growing up as an Air Force child, I was also fortunate enough to have lived in Washington, D.C., Izmir, Turkey, and Honolulu, Hawaii, as well as visit several other countries including Switzerland, Italy, England, and Germany. My dream is to move back to the East coast, but for now, Pensacola is where I call home.

I recently graduated from the University of West Florida with a bachelors in Communication Arts-Public Relations, with a minor in Marketing. I married my amazing husband Jason (whom I've been with for nearly 7 years now) in September 2011, and have the best 3 dogs in the world (we're currently on the "puppies not babies" plan.) I was also fortunate enough to be hired immediately upon graduation, and needless to say, landed my "dream job" for this point in my life. I'm a Development Coordinator with a very prominent non-profit organization, and my job is to help establish a presence in the Pensacola market, and plan an annual walk as well as other events leading up to the walk. In terms of my career, my dream is to do meaningful work that helps others while incorporating my love of event planning. Check and check! Next to event planning, a few of my favorite things in the whole world (besides family and friends of course) are fashion, wine, and cake/cupcake decorating, which leads me to my next point: What will this blog be about?

This is what I foresee for my blog, however, I'm sure it will change as it evolves: This blog will mainly feature my latest fashion & beauty and delectable drink finds, my latest baking endeavors, and I'm sure, the occassional random sidenote. Now don't get me wrong, despite my love of fashion, wine, and baking, I'm no expert, but anytime I run across something worth sharing, I'll be sure to do so. I mainly plan to feature outfit ideas I put together (for both work and play) in hopes to inspire just a few others in the process. Like I said, this is my game plan, but who knows what will actually happen. Stay tuned to find out!
